Mica Band Heater

Mica Band Heater

A mica band heater is an industrial heating element wrapped around
cylindrical surfaces, like pipes or barrels, to provide uniform heat via electrical
conduction. Made with a nickel-chromium resistance wire and mica
insulation encased in a stainless steel sheath, they typically cost between ₹150
to ₹1,500 depending on the diameter and wattage.

Specification

  • Operating Temperature: Generally up to 250°C to 300°C (though some models can reach up to 450°C).

  • Voltage & Power: Commonly operates on 110V, 220V, or 240V, with standard wattages ranging from 100W to 2kW.

  • Common Uses: Extensively used in the plastics processing industry (for injection molding and extrusion barrels), packaging machinery, and heated piping systems.

  • Advantages: Fast heat-up time, cost-effective design, and resistance to moisture and chemicals.

Mica band heaters are custom-tailored to the machinery they service. To ensure a precise fit and avoid damaging air gaps, you must specify the inner diameter, width (band height), and gap size.
